Pray for India

Taj Mahal

Taj Mahal, India

In the last few months India has been experiencing very tumultuous times. There seems to be a shaking happening.  In July the government almost collapsed; there have been unrest, communal tension and clashes in several states. Major floods hit the north-eastern state of Bihar where 3.5 million people have been affected and many rendered homeless. A spate of serial bomb blasts has struck terror in different cities (Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Surat, Bangalore, the last being our capital Delhi on September 13, 2008).

To add to the turmoil, there have been intensified attacks from Hindu activist groups against Christian groups, believers and churches in India since the middle of August. This started out in the Hindu-dominated state of Orissa and has now spread to the more moderate south with violence reported in Karnataka and now in Kerala.

Please pray for:

1.         The safety and stability of India, God’s wisdom upon the heads of the government, police force and anti-terrorism squads.

2.         The terrorist attacks to stop.

3.         An end to communal violence and tension between different religious groups.

4.         The attacks against Christians to stop and justice to prevail.

5.         Protection of missionaries, especially those who labor in the most backward and difficult areas.

6.         More people to understand the truth and freedom of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

7.         The families of the afflicted to be comforted.

Please also pray for protection for our Every Nation pastors and church members in India. Mumbai is constantly on high alert and seems to be on the hit list of the terrorists. Also there is news of the violence and attacks against Christians spreading to Mumbai and other parts of the country.
